Frederik was scheduled to meet nr 4 seed the Italian Ardizio, in a field with a lot of other strong fighters, including world champion Maxim Rakov from Kazakhstan for example, Ardizio a small left handed fighter, took the best out of the fight and ended up beating Frederik. In the next fight the Italian could overcome a fighter from Kazakhstan and so Frederik was out of the competition. Benjamin was seeded nr 3 here in Sindelfingen, first fight was a by, so next fight Benjamin met an Austrian where Benjamin scored an ippon with a ko-uchi-makikomi. Quarter-final was up and here we were expecting a difficult fight against the Italian Carollo, after making a good plan, Benjamin looked very good throwing 2 times for yuko, and has the Italian started to put some pressure, Benjamin sealed the victory with anther Ko-uchi-makikomi for ippon, and he was in the semi-final. Here we would meet another Italian that would end up winning the competition, Benjamin tried but the Italian was more fresh and took the victory, so Benjamin was in his second bronze match oth the year in ECups.
